Vietnam Internship Program at National University of Civil Engineering

The National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) and National Taiwan University (NTU) have had 10 years of collaboration in many fields. In particular, the two universities have developed a Joint Master Program (major Structure Engineering and Contrustion Engineering Management) from 2008 with 10 batches and almost 100 students graduated.

Recently, a new short program called Vietnam Internship Program(VIP) has implemented in early 2018 to reinforce the bilateral relations between two universites. The program was 2 week long from January 21st to February 3rd. Participated in the program was a delegation of students from NTU led by Prof. Chu Chih-Yuan and escorted by Prof. Chou Chia-Pei, lecturer of the College of Engineering.The students were from both master program and undergraduate program of NTU. The purpose of VIP is to exchange scientific and cultural between students of NUCE and NTU’s delegation.

The program was started with an introduction of NUCE by Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa – Dean of Faculty of International Education(FIE) and Director of International Cooperation Center for Education and Consultancy(ICCEC), NUCE, followed by a tour around NUCE campus.. After that, the NTU students attended a class of joint master program NUCE – NTU, a class of Proffesional English.

Within two weeks, the students of NUCE and NTU have accompanied with others to go sight-seeing, explore the Vietnamese cuisine, as well as to visit construction sites, companies; exchange scientific and cultural, and explore Vietnamese living conditions.

In the scope of the program, a Scientific and Cultural Exchange Day was organized and attracted more than 60 students to attend. On this day, the students of NUCE and NTU have presented and introduced about the people, the cuisine, the country of Vietnam and Taiwan.

Especially, the students of NTU had a presentation about Taipei 101 building and the High Speed Rail in Taiwan – the typical developments in Taiwan.

On this occasion, a NTU alumni meeting and party was also organized byProf. Chou with the participation of the leader of FIE, ICCEC, NTU alumni students, the student of batch 10th NUCE – NTU joint master program.This was the chance for students and professors to share their thoughts and good memories about the joint program, about Vietnam and Taiwan impression.

The VIP program was ended with Certificate granting ceremony with students and professors. VIP program was acknowledged by NTU to be a very successful program in organization and logistics. This enhances the strong collaboration between two universities and two countries Taiwan and Vietnam.
