International student volleyball tournament 2020 – Laos – Cambodia – Vietnam

The Faculty of International Education (FIE) cooperated with the Physical Education Department of National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) to organize the International Student Volleyball Tournament 2020 (Laos – Cambodia – Vietnam) in the afternoon of November 15th, 2020 at the volleyball court of NUCE. This is one of the activities to celebrate Vietnam Teachers’ Day 20/11.

Assoc. Prof. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen – Vice Dean of FIE, MSc. Nguyen Van Hieu – Dean of Physical Education Department with the representatives of the Department of Political and Student Management, Department of Information and Communication, staffs, members of volleyball teams of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam; and cheerleaders.

In the Opening Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen affirmed that the volleyball tournament is a great significance in promoting the exchange and close relationship among students from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The volleyball tournament was held for the first time this year thanks to the close cooperation of the teachers from the Department of Physical Education, especially Mr. Tran Van Manh (who is in charge of volleyball classes) from the FIE, as well as the warmest support from the Board of Management of NUCE.

The tournament was quite thrilling, showing good volleyball skills of the teams. Each team has excellent athletes like Se Long (Cambodian team), Inphanda Kounlavong (Laos team) and Dang Hong Truong (Vietnamese team). Through this tournament, it is completely possible to build a volleyball team of Lao-Cambodian students for the representative of the FIE to participate in the Student Volleyball Tournament of NUCE in 2020-2021 academic year, which is expected to open in December.

At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese team won, followed by Cambodia (2nd prize) and Laos (3nd prize). The greatest joy from this tournament is the tighter bond between students from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. They wish to participate in many similar tournaments, and not only limited to volleyball, but also football and table tennis in the future.
